Capital Restoration

About Us

Capital Restoration was founded in 1997 by John Allen. John has worked with antiques his entire adult life, training as an archeologist and serving as a museum curator for six years. In 1995 he began a 30 month internship at the Conservation Lab of the North Carolina Museum of History focusing on furniture and frame restoration.

In the past eleven years John has treated a wide variety of pieces from bronze age artifacts and medieval furniture to 20th century pieces by famous designers. Clients have included The North Carolina Governor’s Mansion, The North Carolina Museum of History, The Museum of The Cape Fear, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s President’s and Chancellor’s Residences and numerous other area museums, historical societies and colleges.
